Description

The Clinical Support Specialist will work closely with our clients who have various behavioral health diagnoses, such as substance abuse and various co-occurring disorders. In this position, the Clinical Support Specialist will be working alongside our clients throughout multiple levels in medical and clinical care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primarily completes the Biopsychosocial assessment within the Electronic Medical Records system within 24 hours of patient's admission
  • Obtains all pertinent ROIs for emergency contact/legal/employment/referral programs
  • Keeps patients safe by following safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Protects organization reputation by keeping information confidential and demonstrating consistent professionalism
  • Remain fully coordinated with the Detox, RTC, PHP, IOP 5, and IOP 3 Clinician throughout all activities occurring within the structured programming
  • Conduct psychoeducation to guide and direct clients during group sessions. Prepare group and individual notes that support clinical necessity and progress toward treatment plan goals to educate clients on coping strategies and other material contained in the program curriculum.
  • Focus all activities upon reducing risk factors, identifying symptoms of substance misuse/mental health issues.
  • Complete documentation of each session with clients no more than 24 hours from the end of session.
  • Works with the Clinical Director to ensure group activities encourage ongoing attendance and engagement in a manner that inspires participation for all clients.
  • Takes necessary steps to remain compliant with HIPAA and all confidentiality and professional standards, without exception
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned
  • Must obtain supervisor approval for requested PTO ensuring group sessions are not left unattended.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required

2+ years of experience in substance abuse/psych 1+ years of experience writing biopsychosocial assessments or similar

  • 1+ years of experience facilitating evidence-based curriculum to specialized populations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of State and Federal statues regarding patient confidentiality laws.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal statues regarding 42 CFR Part II
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among all constituencies
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and special populations
  • Prior recovery environment work experience
  • One year of continuous sobriety.

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma/GED required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or Counseling field or relevant coursework and experience in the fields of mental health, chemical dependency, and/or substance abuse treatment preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Manual dexterity using a computer keyboard.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Frequent and prolonged typing and frequent and prolonged operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones required.
  • Requires occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
