The Clinical Education Liaison is responsible for the coordination of all clinical affiliates and for the content, quality and evaluation of all clinical instruction. The Clinical Coordinator of Peconic Bay School of Radiologic Technology works in cooperation with each of the affiliates and their respected Clinical Instructors to facilitate that clinical instruction reflects the content of the subjects presented in the didactic situation.

Job Responsibility

  • Schedules students for clinical education
  • Coordinates schedules among each affiliate
  • Serves as the go between Program Director and Clinical Instructors
  • Meet with the Program Director on a weekly basis to report on clinical situations
  • Document and provide a weekly report to the Program Director on the clinical site visits
  • Provides didactic objectives to the clinical affiliates in order to insure clinical education is relevant
  • Maintains an open communication link with the Clinical Instructors concerning the individual student�s performance
  • Coordinates and actively participates in the ongoing evaluation of the clinical component of the program
  • Performs scheduled site visits to each affiliate at the minimum of every week
  • Arrange with Clinical Instructor/Clinical Staff a time period to evaluate images and other programmatic requirements to benefit the student�s education
  • Perform an unscheduled site visit at the minimum of every other week to each facility
  • Coordinate with other faculty a visit at Peconic Bay Medical Center/Northwell Health should the need arise
  • Evaluates each student�s performance in the clinical setting
  • Determines the overall student�s clinical grade, through evaluation of the Attendance, Initial and Terminal Clinical Competencies, End of Month (EOM) and End of Rotation (EOR) evaluations
  • Functions as a didactic instructor (minimum six (6) teaching hours to a maximum of twelve (12) teaching hours per week)
  • Helps to continually develop the program�s curriculum
  • Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development
  • Collaborates with administrative and medical staff leadership in defining challenges, opportunities and initiatives related to trauma patients.
  • Acts as a resource to staff, patients and visitors.
  • Participates in quality management activities within the department.
  • Reviews and documents evaluations, assessments, diagnostic testing, and other appropriate data.
  • Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
  • Strives to streamline operations and effectively apply new concepts and techniques for positive outcomes; identifies and implements technology to improve operations throughout the hospital.
  • Coordinates activities including growth objectives, space allocation, procurement of technological equipment, data planning, developing goals and objectives, capital requirements and desired outcomes of programs.
  • Serves as a liaison with Administration in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating operations.

Job Qualification

  • Holds an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate in Radiography
  • Hold a NYS unrestricted and current Licensure for Diagnostic Radiography (Radiologic Technologist)
  • Documents two years full time experience within the discipline of Radiography
  • Documents one years� experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program.
  • Holds a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree
  • Is proficient in supervision, instruction, evaluation and academic advising
