Description
Responsible for facilitating improvement of inpatient medical record documentation by intervening, interacting with, and educating physicians and other licensed independent practitioners. Clinical Documentation Specialists will take into consideration the effect the documentation and coding sequence have on potential denials, patient safety indicators, hospital acquired conditions, and the mortality index.
Qualifications
RN with BSN, or RN with equivalent experience. Strong clinical expertise. 5+ years experience in adult inpatient/surgical. Knowledge of reimbursement cycle and DRGs. CDI Experience. Knowledge of POA, HAC, SOI, ROM, RAC, Core Measures. CCDS preferred. Current Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Clear interpersonal and communication skills. Analytical skills to interpret medical record documentation and departmental metrics. Self-motivated individual with critical thinking skills. Computer knowledge of Excel, Word and Power Point required. Must be detail orientated.
