We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to oversee financial operations for Melissa Memorial Hospital.
This position ensures the sound financial management of MMH and its activities by directing the development and analysis of financial systems and reports, and providing financial leadership and guidance to senior management and the various governing boards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for developing 12 quarter planning, consistent with MMH/Facility priorities, to identify and reach short- and long-term goals. Demonstrates systems thinking, i.e. considers impact of decisions/actions on the system. Identifies new opportunities for business growth and development.
- Assures development and compliance with operating and capital budgets and achievement of financial performance. Invests in processes that leverage the system.
- Accountable for creating effective staff relations to support achievement of operational plans and MMH vision through demonstrating mastery of leadership competencies.
- Develops effective relationships with medical staff partners and community stakeholders to achieve operational plan objectives and MMH vision.
- Utilizes all opportunities to build and reinforce culture to support vision for MMH.
- Responsible for providing financial leadership and integrated, coordinated, and cost-effective services in the areas of fiscal operations.
- Provides insight, coordination, consultation, and leadership to customers.
- Responsible for oversight of the MMH Reimbursement and cost accounting function to provide appropriate, accurate, and timely cost accounting information and pro forma financial information which management may use to effectively predict profitability
- Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.

- Shares responsibility for orienting and training new staff.

In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon MMH needs or requirements.

- Assists management to create a department-wide focus of performance improvement and quality management. Champions the use of technology throughout the department to continually enhance performance. Models the use of information technology to optimize productivity.
Business Practices
- Assures development and completion of assigned projects in compliance with MMH operating and capital budgets and achievement of financial performance. Invests in processes that leverage the system.
Building Relationships

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Five years of significant experience in finance with strong emphasis in managed care accounting and risk pool methodologies.
- A thorough understanding of managed care concepts, capitation, accrual and pool accounting, incurred but not reported (IBNR) methodologies, and forecasting. Applicant should demonstrate, implement and monitor effective internal control procedures. Incumbent is expected to have thorough knowledge of statistics, computer software, informational relations and database expertise.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting and Finance.
- Strong General Ledger experience
- Strong reporting and presentation skills, including the ability to report and present information at all levels of the organization for understanding and impact.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize data and provide strategic guidance upon analysis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree or CPA.
- Healthcare Revenue Cycle experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- High level technical competency in Accounting theory and application; PC proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word; Speed with accuracy on keyboard and 10-Key (by touch)
