Chef de Cuisine (Multiple Locations)
The Good King Tavern is adding a new position to its culinary team! TGK has serviced the Bella Vista neighborhood since 2013 offering a fun, innovative, french inspired menu with a best in class beverage program. In 2019, father-daughter duo Bernard & Chloe Grigri expanded vertically to open their James Beard nominated upstairs wine bar, le Caveau. Today, the group is run by family and long-time employees, under the culinary direction of Chef Michael Valent. Michael joins us following stints at Zahav, and award winning Cochon (New Orleans).
TGK is in the final stages of completing a major renovation (3 floor addition to the rear of the buidling) that will provide a brand new kitchen on the first floor and a new intimate dining and event space on the second floor, set to launch this winter. The team is also in development for two new concepts in the city, a wine bar with a tight, smart menu, and a high energy cocktail bar with elevated bar food. Both projects are set to open Winter 2023.
The Chef de Cuisine will work alongside our Executive Chef and play a key role in setting up our new kitchen, menu concepting for all new initiatives, hiring, training, systems implementation, and of course cooking! The position will be anchored at our flagship restaurant (TGK), but will be one that will have you jumping from one location to the other to coordinate daily operations. This is an opportunity to jump into an exciting new chapter with tremendous upside and growth opportunities.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
A strong passion for food, with an interest in adajacent beverage initiatives and overall hospitality.
An interest in French cuisine and culture.
Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities.
An innate ability to occupy a versatile role and multitask.
Experience with ordering & inventory management on a large scale.
Proven success in a management role in a high-volume restaurant.
Proven ability to attract and develop a culinary team in the Philadelphia market.
