Job Summary:

We are a young, locally-owned cider company looking for a cellar worker to join our hard-working production team. Teamwork, dedication, and a passion for producing the highest quality cider is what sets us apart. The cellar worker is responsible for the duties involved with the fermentation cellar and all cider released to packaging. The quality of our cider can be greatly affected by the cellar processes. Ensuring consistency must be the Cellar Worker’s primary focus to ensure the standard and integrity of our product is met. The Cellar Worker is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing fermentation and conditioning tanks, as well as transferring cider from tank to tank, ensuring the cider is transferred correctly and in an sanitary manner. The Cellar Worker is also responsible for monitoring the fermentation of cider and carbonating cider to the correct level. The Cellar Worker cleans and sanitizes product lines and other equipment as well as the general working environment in the cellar.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• CIP transfer lines and transfer any cider that is scheduled and ready for the appropriate conditioning tank.
• Clean all tanks that are empty, dirty, and need to be cleaned.
• Complete fermentation checks.
• Cycling and blending tanks.
• Assist in the cleaning of the cellar areas and the washing of equipment, floors, and tools to comply with company and government sanitation standards.
• Contribute to improvements and processes required to gain efficiency and quality assurance in the cellar department.
• Assist with the maintenance of cellar equipment.
• Remain calm, flexible, and able to work through setbacks and emergencies.
• Able to work through challenges by setting a professional and upbeat example.
• Accurately complete dilution calculations, volume, flow, density, weight, length, pressure, and other unit conversions, calculate cider volumes/losses, and alcohol content.
• Consistently read and write orders, draft emails, and complete forms.
• Be an active participant in the creative process of new cider flavours
• Participate in scheduled cider evaluations and staff tastings

Desired Qualifications and Abilities:

• Experience simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities in a fast paced work environment.
• 1-year experience in a similar environment.
• Love for craft cider.
• Organized, task-oriented, and detail-driven.
• Able to endure standing for prolonged periods of time and repetitive motion
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Consistently lift and carry 10 pounds and occasionally lift and carry 50 pounds to chest height.
• Have the ability to work some weekends and nights as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
