Job Description:
The Catholic Religious Education Coordinator (CREC) works in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain and shall be responsible for the overall management, logistical support, and program events/activities for the Catholic Religious Education ministries, Sacramental Preparation, and Rite of Christian Initiation (RCI).
Coordinate activities with the individual(s) responsible for other programs and events, such as and not limited to; chapel staff, parish members, and volunteers
Identify and align administrative and logistical support for all Catholic religious education ministry needs to include but not limited to: Catholic Sunday Schools, Catholic Bible Studies, Catholic Men of the Chapel (CMOC), Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC), Catholic Youth of the Chapel (CYOC), Catholic Single Adult Ministries, Catholic Vacation Bible School (VBS) and other Catholic Parish programs/events requiring religious education
Assist in planning, resourcing, and executing the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) with the Protestant Parish.
Assist with the budget, attend required meetings, and maintain required reports and documents.
Create or collect religious education program/event advertisements (external and internal) and promote activities via social media and through the community. Shall be accountable for the cleanliness of all facilities utilized in conjunction with their programs.
Recruit, train and supervise volunteers for their respective areas and ensure all volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age receive a background check.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate, or compulsory education equivalency. Shall have practical experience (two or more years preferred) leading RE and must show proficiency in leadership and management practices in a parish setting and a working knowledge of RE resources and terminology. If married, must be married in the Catholic Church and be a practicing Catholic.
Shall read/comprehend, write, and speak English fluently. Have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements. Shall have the ability and willingness to provide services in an ecumenical and pluralistic environment. Shall maintain professional standards of conduct and public decorum, including but not limited to dress and appearance. Be familiar with the MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook programs. Shall follow all confidentiality procedures.
Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
