OVERVIEW

Case Manager for Women’s Empowerment Program will be responsible for assisting with the organization,
planning, and coordination of a broad range of programming and services for Afghan women and children
who have resettled in northern and central Vermont. The program’s goal will be to empower women and
their families to successfully participate in their new communities and become more fully independent
through education and experiential learning opportunities designed specifically to address the needs of the
Afghan women and children.

The position will report to the Education Coordinator, and collaborate with other program staff, community partners and volunteers. The ideal candidate will be a flexible, team player with strong interpersonal skills, a self-starter, and open to taking on varied responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Education Coordinator and education team to coordinate and implement short and long-term educational programs for women and children in all the Vermont communities where USCRI Afghan clients are living.
  • Work with the job developer to organize and implement vocational focused, language supported training opportunities for Afghan women. Schedule and coordinate meetings and interviews for clients with employers.
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of women and children’s summer and vacation programming and experiential learning activities.
  • Work with USCRI Vermont colleagues to connect Afghan women to other services as needed.
  • Accurately track client involvement and collect and monitor client feedback as appropriate.
  • Adhere to program budget and maintain accurate records.
  • Coordinate regularly wDirector, Education Coordinator, Case Managers, and other Program Coordinators as applicable, on issues and concerns.
  • Communicate and interface with Community Partnership Coordinator, volunteers, family friends, and community sponsors who may be involved in the programming.
  • Ensure provision of appropriate interpretation.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience working in multicultural and multilingual environments or Associate’s degree with significant applicable experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with diverse clients in a non-profit/education-focused setting; previous experience working with refugees and English Language learners preferred.
  • Experience in project or program coordination, including organizing details, meeting deadlines, maintaining records, and completing timely reporting.
  • Comfort establishing relationships, collaborating with community organizations, educational institutions, and businesses.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multicultural and multi-lingual; experience using interpreters.
  • Multilingual in Pashto and/or Dari a strong plus.
  • Highly effective communication skills, partnership skills, emotional intelligence, situational awareness, and an appropriate sense of humor.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible self-starter with ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others, juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Google suite, and Zoom.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend hours, if needed.
  • USCRI has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. All employees must be fully vaccinated to work at any / all locations at USCRI.

TRAINING REQUIRMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor(s) or Human Resources.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Ability to visit various communities around the state where clients are located or where programming is occurring.
  • Ability to transport clients using own transportation.
