Caregiver for children Job at Legacy Healthcare

The Residential Caregiver will provide care and support to residents in a group home setting. They will work closely with the children's residents to make sure they are safe and comfortable. The Caregiver will help with activities of daily living and personal care. They will also provide emotional support and companionship. The Caregiver must be able to work independently and be able to make decisions in the best interest of the residents.

Job Classification:
Full-time, Monday to Friday, Rotating Weekend availability

  • Guide children through learning opportunities to develop life skills and independence.
  • Caring for children ages +6 yrs old and up
  • Assisting the Group Facilitator teacher in classroom management, leading group, and individual activities
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of children in your care
  • Cook one quality meal a day for the children
  • Pick up via transportation and drive them
  • Children are fully functional and essentially require after-school care; similar to babysitting (homework, taking them to the park, etc.)
  • Grocery Shop
  • Additional Housekeeping Duties Expected: keeping the child’s room, clean and organized. Keeping kitchen clean
  • Interpersonal skills, including exceptional patience and listening skills
  • The ability to provide care across a variety of settings, including group homes and day service programs
  • Keeping proper care records and reporting changes to nursing team
  • Encouraging socialization and participation in community activities
  • Following patient care plan
  • Communicating with families, co-workers and supervisors regarding care
  • Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment

Position Description:

  • You will travel to the client’s home to provide personalized care.
  • For some clients, you will also transport them to appointments, grocery shopping, etc., and remind them to take medications.
  • Our primary goal is to improve the daily lives of our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Caregiver:

  • Attend training and pass a standardized exam
  • Knowledgable in basic emergency and safety techniques
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Reliable transportation
  • Flexible schedule Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience as a caregiver a plus
  • 21 yrs of age Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Current TB Test CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Motor vehicle report
  • Reliable transportation
  • Driver's License is REQUIRED

Work Environment:

The Caregiver works in a climate controlled facility, and the. work schedule is Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00 p.m., and rotating weekends.

In some instances, you may be required to be available to attend community outreach events. Direct and indirect patient contact is necessary, and the candidate may need to be able to walk, stand, sit or lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
