Caregiver/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA): Full Time Position

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current state CNA license/ HHA certificate in good standing is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working with seniors in a residential or long-term care setting.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check as required by the state of Minnesota.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The employee must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position.

Tasks related to resident care:

  • Assist residents with personal care needs based on their established plan of care, including: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility.
  • Assist residents with home care needs based on their established plan of care, including: housekeeping, linens, trash removal, laundry, meal delivery and meal prep.
  • Engages residents in meaningful conversation, socialization, and activity while providing personal care assistance.
  • Promote personal safety and a safe environment for residents by observing infection control practices, following facility guidelines, and reporting unsafe situation to the nurse. Promptly respond to resident emergency response alerts within 10 minutes of call.
  • Provide medication assistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy including. Accept responsibility for accurate medication counts and for security of the medication cart and medication storage room for assigned shifts.

Tasks related to Flourish facility:

  • Interact courteously with residents, family members, employees, visitors, vendors, business associates, and representatives of government agencies.
  • Assist in the dining room during resident mealtimes as needed/per request.
  • Assist in overall beautification of property: picking up trash, putting things back in its place, wiping down surfaces/windows if dirty, etc.

OTHER:

  • Attend all required staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude. Promote customer service and positive community relations by treating residents, families, other staff, and all visitors in a courteous, helpful and friendly manner.
  • Assist with safety upkeep such as sweeping/shoveling pathway on sidewalks/entry, applying salt and grit as needed.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to work full-time as agreed upon, on assigned shift, including weekend and holiday rotations.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medium work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-20 pounds of force frequently.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, squat, reach, push/pull and lift-up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to see well enough to write and read, and to visually interact with residents, families, and staff.
  • Must be able to see, speak and hear well enough to verbally interact with residents, families and staff.

OSHA CATEGORY CLASSIFICATION:

  • II: Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens, chemical/respiratory hazards, and noise.
