Salish Kootenai College Seeks Applicants for: Career Services Coordinator
Salary: $18.28 - $20.02 DOEE

General Summary
The coordinator is responsible for coordinating the SKC Career Services functions. Primary responsibilities include providing guidance and counseling to students and alumni in career planning and job search strategies, coordinating and providing skills workshops and career forums, disseminating information about employment opportunities, and organizing career fairs and events. The coordinator is also responsible for assisting with the management of the Federal Work-Study and paid internship programs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide career guidance and counseling to students and alumni including career exploration and planning and related educational program selection;
- Develop and teach career preparation courses and skill-building workshops;
- Provide individual assistance with resume' and cover letter writing and interview skills development;
- Conduct presentations and workshops on career-related topics;
- Market and coordinate career events, employer presentations, and on-campus recruitment events;
- Disseminate information about available career opportunities and resources to students and faculty;
- Manage the Federal Work-Study and internship programs, including the budget, application, hiring, and performance evaluation processes;
- Develop and provide career preparation resources to faculty, students, and alumni;
- Assist with managing the Career Services website, social media sites, and digital platforms (e.g., Handshake, BigInterview, MyMajors, etc.);
- Assist with initiatives to publicize the services provided by Career Services;
- Assist with data collection and management;
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following: public relations, business administration, communication, counseling, education, or related discipline.
- Previous experience in customer service, recruitment, or similar interactive public position.
- Experience with program management, business operations, record keeping, following professional policies and procedures, and working collaboratively in teams.
- Experience with data collection, management, and analysis.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheets and Google Business Suite applications.
- Demonstrated strong social, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience with self-direction, independent problem solving, ability to think critically, effective timely communication practices, and maintaining professional work habits.
- Strong public relations skills and the demonstrated ability to work within a team setting with minimal supervision, establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of professionals and students, and maintain confidentiality.
- Positive attitude and ability to bring enthusiasm to the departments, faculty, staff, students, and tribal communities served by the College.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous career advising, course development, and teaching experience is preferred.
- Understanding of current workforce trends, career pathways, career planning, job search strategies, guidelines for resume and cover letter writing, and interview best practices.
This is a full-time, 10 month position and must be willing to work on campus (not remote).
