Osborne is opening its first transitional housing and reentry program, The Fulton Community Reentry Center (Fulton). Fulton will provide 140 beds of transitional reentry housing to formerly incarcerated men who would otherwise be homeless after discharge from a correctional facility. Fulton will also provide onsite reentry services, including case management, benefits enrollment, employment, health, and substance use disorder treatment. The facility operates 365 days on a 24-hour basis daily, including evening and weekend hours (some positions will require non-traditional work hours).

We are seeking a full-time Career Coach to join Fulton Community Reentry Center. The Career Coach facilitates various job readiness and employment workshops focused on increasing the participants’ employability. This position reports to the Director of Workforce Development.

Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Conduct orientation sessions at various locations in the community to promote the program and recruit participants
  • Facilitate work-readiness group sessions for the clients, such as resume workshops, time management, and other skill-building activities
  • Utilize Osborne database tools to maintain documentation and all relevant records, entering contact notes within the timeframe outlined by program management
  • Ensure referrals (securing appointment date/time/location) to Employer Specialist, other services, or vendors to increase the individual’s employability
  • Provide light case management through regular participant contacts and follow-up with referred service providers
  • Promptly review and address service adherence issues/concerns and any crisis situations that arise for any participant with supervisory staff, service network, and any involved legal entities
  • Work with program staff to develop training opportunities to meet employer demands
  • Perform other duties as requested

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Human Services, or a relevant field; in lieu of degree, high school diploma or equivalent and combined work experience will be considered

Experience

  • Experience leading large and small group workshops; facilitated groups using evidence-based curricula
  • Experience with resume writing, interviewing prepping, and other job prep courses
  • Experience working with criminal justice-involved individuals

Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of the New York City job market and labor force
  • Excellent oral, writing, and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently and to initiate corrective actions to help participants seeking employment
  • Ability to interface with participants, as well as all levels of staff
  • Knows how to utilize motivational interviewing (MI)
  • Knowledge of case management software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
