Capital Project Manager Job at Hampton Lumber Sales
Hampton Lumber is looking for a Capital Project Manager to join our team in Willamina. In this role you will be responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Performs engineering design evaluations. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Provide Project best practices that will directly impact safety, quality, and productivity to plant manufacturing processes throughout Hampton Lumber divisions, assist in the development of the Hampton Capital Project continuous improvement efforts. Will have the ability to establish a working relationship with maintenance, production, and management personnel to achieve the goals of the organization. Must understand the mechanics and controls of working machinery.
This could be a remote position based out of Willamina, Oregon
Responsibilities
- Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks
- Leads and directs the work of others

- Possess the ability to work with existing operations, managers, and is team oriented
- Scheduling and implementation of projects with and in operating areas to minimize plant and/or equipment down time
- Provides schedule, scope, budget, design engineering, planning, coordination, and monitoring of large construction jobs
- Track Project budgets and explain any deviations from the original ASE
- Prepare bid packages
- Organize safety orientations
- Provides on-site procedures to ensure safe and efficient work methods are used
- Provides cost analysis of alternatives to determine cost effective installation practices
- Resolve a variety of complex problems (i.e. conflicting design requirements, suitability of materials and equipment, construction costs vs. project budget)
- Plans and coordinates crew and equipment resources to ensure installations are timely and within budget
- Maintains ongoing communication with local and state permit and regulatory agencies and contractors to protect the company’s interest and coordinate construction activities
- Responds to a variety of inquiries/concerns from company personnel
- Reviews and approves construction drawings
- Coordinates with office and field personnel to optimize the use of resources
- Develops new construction techniques and procedures
- Evaluates new equipment
- Knowledge and application of Construction Standards, and OSHA Regulations and Building Codes
- Advanced level of understanding in machinery design, fabrication, operation, and maintenance with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems to maximize throughput, high level of understanding in pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- B.S. in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Must understand the mechanics and controls of working machinery.
- Minimum of 4 to 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Ability to drive results through others in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and all Microsoft Office related programs (Word/Excel/Access)
- Professional level verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail with solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate opportunities and provide practical solutions given the business environment
- Strong work ethic, sense of commitment, team-oriented, customer focused and willingness to embrace change that strives for continuous improvement while exemplifying the highest level of honesty and integrity
- Superior organizational skills, plus the ability to initiate and handle multiple projects and deadlines and the ability to work with multiple internal customers and team members from varied levels and functional backgrounds
- Self-starter with the ability to accept or take on additional responsibility and develop their own agenda to support requirements of internal customers
Skills Desired:
- Ability to lead project professionals.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects to ensure deadlines, scopes, and budgets remain consistent with ASE’s.
- Ability to resolve problems and follow through with all concerned parties.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
