Southeast Oakland Coalition; Ferndale Middle School, Young Leaders of Tomorrow Summer Camp Facilitator

Wage Hourly; $30.00 (Monday thru Thursday July 5th to August 4th 2023)

8:30am to 1:30pm daily

The Summer Camp Facilitator is a part time position (20 hours per week) and is responsible for implementing the following activities to Young Leaders of Tomorrow Summer Camp participants.

• · Registration of all student participants
• · Take daily attendance of camp participants
• · Supervise lunch detail for students
• · Chaperone all scheduled field trips
• · Teach the Everfi Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship Program to FMS Student participants.
• · Supervise the Fern & Learn Government Educational Experience
• · Supervise; Practical Law Experience shared with campers via the 43rd District Court.

Qualifications: The person selected for this position will be expected to collaborate with Southeast Oakland Coalition Staff, Ferndale Middle School Administrators, City of Ferndale Officials, 43rd District Court Legal Professionals and Ferndale Police Department.

• · Bachelor’s Degree from accredited University.
• · Certified Teacher preferred
• · Prior experience working with youth/ adults from diverse backgrounds. Culturally competent with geography of Ferndale Public School District.
• · Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• · Proficient with Microsoft word, excel and power point software.
• · Experience with survey development and implementation
• · Solid Classroom Management Skills
• · Conflict resolutions skills
• · Self- starter; proven track record of planning and implementing projects.
• · Background in Government; Political Science is valued, not mandatory.
• · Background in Finance; valued, not mandatory.
• Background in Entrepreneurship; valued but not mandatory.
• Background in Practical Law; valued but not mandatory.

Job Duties: Work closely with Seoc Youth Coordinator, Camp Facilitator, Ferndale Public School Administrators and Ferndale Middle School Students. Successfully accomplish the goals of Young Leaders of Tomorrow Summer Camp. Educate students on core subjects of Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Government and Practical Law. Complete required trainings when assigned.

• · Facilitation of the Everfi Whole Child Learning Curriculum Grades 7th and 8th.
• · Implement pre and post test to students on four core Summer Camp subjects. Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Government and Practical Law.
• · Supervision of all camp participants.
• · Collaborate with Southeast Oakland Coalition Staff to accomplish camp goals and objectives.
• · Maintain a safe and healthy Summer Camp environment for students to enjoy.
• · Assure evaluation documentation is completed in accordance with camp requirements.
• · File all required camp documents, registration forms, permission slips, educational course curriculums, flyers and receipts

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Education:

• Bachelor's (Required)

Experience:

• Childcare: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)
