The City of Greenacres offers:
Minimum: $13.50 per hour
Six (6) months of additional experience over minimum requirements: $14.00 per hour
One (1) year of additional experience over minimum requirements: $14.50 per hour

- Must have graduated from an accredited high school or have obtained a State of Florida G.E.D. certificate or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
- Must be of good moral character.
- Must submit to a post-offer physical examination, drug screen and Level II fingerprinting. The offer of employment will be contingent on the results of testing and/or examinations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Participates in the pre-camp employee training, becomes familiar with the Employee Handbook and the expectations of the position.
- Becomes familiar with camp policies and procedures and the Palm Beach County Health Department (PBCHD) rules and regulations regarding supervision, attendance and transportation.
- Ensures the supervision, safety and security of all participants and assigned volunteers.
- Record group and bus attendance in accordance with the PBCHD rules and regulations.
- Serves as an exceptional role model during camp program.
- Coordinate, implement and evaluate recreational program and activities.
- Executes daily activity schedules, gathers materials, assists with room set-up, breakdown and clean-up.
- Ensures activities and field trips run smoothly in accordance with the PBCHD rules and regulations and the Youth Programs Department policies and procedures.
- Provides first-aid, for accidents/injuries or in an emergency situation, reports to supervisor and documents accident/injury.
- Provide positive intervention with discipline related issues, report to supervisor, as necessary and document the incident on City’s incident/accident form.
- Maintain the safety, security, and cleanliness of facility, equipment and vehicles.
- Communicates to appropriate program supervisor any problem, conflict or concern that may arise.
- Maintains accurate participant records including attendance, discipline, medication log, accident, etc.
- Assists with meeting the four (4) main Quality Improvement System (QIS) standards (Safe Environment, Supportive Environment, Interaction and Engagement).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum standards of developmentally appropriate practices for children, youth or teens, depending on assignments.
- Understanding of basic programming for specific activities, games, sports, arts & crafts.
- Safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Environmental factors that may affect participants; weather, water hazards, animals, plants, etc.
- Classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Sports rules and regulations and ability to execute them as needed.
- Work up to 40 hours Monday through Friday.
- Handle various situations simultaneously, in a noisy and busy environment, or while operating a motor vehicle.
- Work with a diverse population.
- Serve as a positive role model.
- Participate and lead groups of children in various recreation activities.
- Interpret and appropriately apply health and safety regulations.
- Observe participant and group behavior, assess and initiate appropriate conflict resolution skills.
- Remain calm and act resourcefully in an emergency and in stressful situations.
- Learn and implement policies, procedures, rules and regulations as needed.
- Administer Basic First Aid as needed and CPR in an emergency.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Maintain high standards for professional and ethical conduct.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, public agencies, vendors and the general public.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Follow safety rules and regulations of the City and the Department.
- Perform custodial duties.
- Support the Department and City’s Mission, Values and Goals.
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- One (1) year experience working or volunteering with children in different age groups in a structured setting.
- First Aid and basic CPR certification training will be provided and must pass prior to camp starting.
Workers Compensation
Medical care expenses and loss-of-pay benefits for work related injuries and illnesses are provided pursuant to Chapter 440, Florida Statutes. Effective immediately.
Social Security
The City matches the employee's contribution to the federal Social Security and Medicare funds. Immediate eligibility.
