SUMMARY
Purchase ingredients from assigned vendors in a timely manner at competitive costs to meet customer demand, quality, and quantity requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Create and confirm purchase orders each day using MRP (X3).
o Review the demand forecast and historical usage, applying thorough knowledge of the company’s products and business objectives for sound procurement decisions.
o Validate pricing on confirmations and update the price lists, if necessary.
o Coordinate with suppliers and logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective receipt of product.
· Review production shortages daily
o Review stock at all sites, and ensure suppliers have dock appointments.
o Expedite product, if necessary.
o Actively work to resolve constraints in the supply chain that impact availability.
· Review all past-due orders and follow up with suppliers.
o Sense of urgency is required to avoid line a shut-down.
o Confirm best date and communicate with the production scheduler.
o Work with logistics to expedite, if necessary.
· Provide key item forecasts to the suppliers monthly.
· Maintain adequate inventory levels for assigned ingredients to meet production demands using safety stock, min/max, and/or other-directed criteria.
· Support project management team in meeting deadlines for new and/or changed items.
· Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization.
· Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
· Other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma with 5 years buyer experience.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business management or marketing with 2-5 years’ experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
None required.

· Previous experience of working in a purchasing team, preferably food manufacturing is beneficial.

· Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· MRP experience is required; must be able to learn and utilize X3, as required.
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
· Experience in food manufacturing and food safe packaging is preferred.

The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Depth perception.

REQUIRED TRAINING
This position requires training on Good Manufacturing Practices critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality, and process efficiency. Training is also required
on how to identify food safety issues such as temperature control, cross-contamination, sanitation, and cleanliness of the lines, etc., critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality, and process efficiency.
