Buyer/Planner - NW Houston (77041)
Long Term Temp (3-6 months, could go longer)
In-Office - Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Summary of Position:
Under general supervision, responsible for production planning, materials requirements planning, and purchase of supplies, raw materials, services for Uson production inventory and/or assigned product line(s). Will also have responsibility for managing supplier performance and cost reduction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Procure supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the operation of the organization.
• Check requisitions, contact vendors and examine bids and contracts.
• Drive the development of project and sustaining production schedules from operations and engineering plans and production specifications.
• Interface with various functional areas, such as Production, Engineering, Shipping, Accounting, etc. to resolve any supply, quality, or logistical problems associated with purchased items.
• Work with design engineering on new product launch, supplier selection, and ensure seamless transition for sustaining production release.
• Resolve supplier problems associated with over shipments, shortages, discrepant or obsolete materials, invoice issues, and rework or scrap material.
• Review Open Purchase Orders and follows up with suppliers as necessary.
• Prepare RFQ’s and obtain competitive bids to ensure best total cost of ownership.
• Expedite items/supplies as necessary to meet company demands and existing business needs.
• Responsible for monitoring and ensuring delivery and inventory performance objectives per the operating plan are met/exceeded.
• Communicate with Production and other relevant departments to execute targeted revenue plan.
• Adhere to ISO-9001 and any other applicable quality policies and procedures.
• Meet or exceed set goals and objectives for department and organization.
• Work overtime, weekends, and holidays, per business needs.
• Travel to supplier sites when/if required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements:

• High school education is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, industrial management, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum three to five years Supply Chain (production planning and/or procurement) experience.

APICS CPIM or CSCP or ISM CPSM or CPSD Certifications are preferred.

• Industrial manufacturing, high mix/low volume background preferred.
• Experience working with suppliers managing fabricated, machined, or cast metal products, electrical components manufacturers, valve and regulator manufacturers, and industrial supply distributors.
• Working knowledge of ISO policies and work instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to include but not limited to solid oral and written communication.
