Business Librarian Job at College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University
College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University Collegeville, MN
The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University Libraries are seeking a Business Librarian to join our Learning and Research Team. The Business Librarian position is a full-time, twelve-month, benefit-eligible Administrative Staff position that reports to the Libraries’ Associate Director for Learning and Research.
The Business Librarian works directly with students, faculty, and staff to support institutional and departmental teaching and learning goals. In their liaison role, the Business Librarian provides information literacy instruction, research consultations, collection development, and other forms of outreach to each of their assigned departments or programs. This liaison work includes developing or curating learning materials – such as instruction modules, research guides, video tutorials, slide decks, and sample activities or assignments – to meet the information literacy and library research needs of their assigned subject areas. The Business Librarian’s areas include the Global Business Leadership (GBUS), Accounting & Finance, and Economics departments; our new Data Analytics minor and Data Science major; the Mayo Innovation Scholars program; and the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship.
As a member of our highly collaborative Learning and Research Team of liaison librarians, the Business Librarian shares responsibility for 1) delivering information literacy instruction to general education courses (see https://www.csbsju.edu/integrations-curriculum/faculty-resources) and 2) collaborating with IT Services’ Instructional Technology Specialists to build information and media literacy skills into classroom media assignments (see https://www.csbsju.edu/instructional-technology/instructional-design). Learning and Research Team librarians are also valued as functional specialists who provide expertise and support to our campus communities in areas like information ethics, digital scholarship, citation management, copyright and author rights, visual literacy, and data literacy. The Business Librarian, in consultation with their supervisor, will have opportunities to customize parts of their position and receive professional development support in these or similar areas, based on their professional interests and our institutional needs.
