SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and seasoned business developer, with proven experience selling services to join our team as the Director of Business Development (BD). The Director of BD is charged with expanding our business by selling a suite of services/product offerings across biopharmaceutical clients. The successful candidate will have the ability to sell standard medical affairs offerings, as well identify new service/product opportunities. The BD head is responsible for, growing the client base, driving new sales, and solidifying existing business by continually developing the Medical Affairs Consulting brand and building increased awareness in the marketplace. The Director BD is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive sales plan, identifying growth opportunities while upholding the mission and values established by team.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to retain and grow existing client business while expanding our client portfolio with new accounts
  • Identify leads, cultivate, and convert qualified opportunities to new business
  • Lead exploratory discussions with both medical affairs and C-suite leaders in pharmaceutical, biotech and diagnostic companies
  • Work to stringent targets, adopt a customized, professional, and knowledgeable approach to each new business call
  • Collaborate with members of the Zipher team and our colleagues across Lumanity to ensure an integrated strategy and an excellent client experience from needs assessment through delivery and follow up
  • Develop capabilities presentations customized to the customer needs
  • Lead RFI/RFP response process: Assess the potential value, determine feasibility to participate, collaborate and identify and support the right team to deliver the responses
  • Manage all phases of the business development lifecycle to successful close, including proposal development, implementation estimating, scope construction and client presentations
  • Work with the Marketing lead to align marketing and sales plans to gain new business and maximize existing business.
  • Capture insights, perform market research/analysis and provide market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs to support the evolution of our product/solution offering
  • Lead or participate planning of events to highlight corporate services.
  • Take part in public speaking to industry organizations and trade shows to enhance thought leadership and corporate awareness
  • Edit and proofread blog posts, whitepapers, and case studies for external distribution on Zipher’s website and social media
  • Perform all tasks with the highest standards
  • Attend and participate in all required compliance trainings
  • Comply and follow all laws, rules, regulations, etc. including, but not limited to; laws, rules, regulations, codes, guidance documents and policies associated with and/or attributed to the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., FDA regulations, PhRMA Code), Zipher (e.g., TriNet/Zipher handbook, etc.) and Zipher clients (e.g., Client’s Code of Conduct, etc.).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven professional sales experience with a minimum of 5-7 years experience with a focus on selling professional services
  • Existing relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech and diagnostic company leadership
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills including extensive experience in creating slide decks and responses to RFIs and RFPs
  • Experience writing proposals
  • Must possess analytical skills to assess external and internal environment for development of new market segments.
  • Bachelor’s degree and strong undergraduate academic accomplishment
  • Quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • High-value personal qualities – resourceful, responsible, tenacious, independent, self-confident, high-energy
  • Qualified candidates must be able to understand the clinical and business implications of technically complex products and services
  • Candidate must be team players, take initiative, and think strategically and creatively
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skills, preferably MAC operating systems
  • Pass all required background checks and required testing

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced terminal degree (MBA, MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP, MBA)
  • Location in Boston, New York or New Jersey

Required Travel: up to 50%
