As a Bus Driver you will provide transportation to the disabled community, ensuring they get where they need to go safely. Driver will provide passengers with safe, reliable transportation and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities of a Bus Driver

• Operate transit buses safely on prescribed routes as directed. Conduct pre and post trip vehicle inspections and document on appropriate forms.
• Collects/records bus fares, and transfers in accordance with Lake County Transit procedures.
• Promote exemplary customer service of the Lake County Transit System by providing safe, courteous, and dependable service while transporting customers.
• Input information into computer-based equipment such as Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL) Automatic Passenger Counter (APC), fare-box and destination displays (requires touch key entering) as technology exists.
• Assist in the boarding of disable customers who require the aid of accessible vehicles (wheelchairs/scooters) for the purpose of mobility. Involves bending, stooping and twisting while securing belts and straps to ensure the patron and vehicle is tied down in a manner that ensures a safe ride (Ability to push pull wheelchair patrons).
• Other duties as assigned

Bus Driver -Non CDL required $16.18/HR

Fixed Bus Driver-Fully licensed $18.00/HR

• For Fixed Bus Driver Must maintain a Commercial Class "A" or "B" CDL Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement. CDL training is available.

Requirments of a Bus Driver

• Must be 21 or older
• Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization and the general public.
• Ability to problem-solve under stressful conditions and tight time lines.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population.
• Ability to effectively manage and resolve customer conflicts.
• Ability to work in a "Team" focused environment and assist other "Team" members achieve their objectives.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.18 - $18.00 per hour
