POSITION:Bus Attendant
SALARY:$14.78(min) - $25.13 (max) per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (knowledge, skills, abilities, duties and responsibilities, physical conditions and nature of work, work environment): This position will provide assistance to students and the bus driver on special needs buses.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
"Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
"Requires current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification before start of employment.
"Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English; Spanish language proficiency a plus.
"Able to do moderate lifting and operate wheelchair lift.
"Able to be patient and understanding with children.
"Able to stay calm in emergencies.
"Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, co-workers, parents, and students.
"Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, special problems involved in dealing with handicapped children.
"Willing and able to work 6:30am-9:00am and 1:30pm-4:30pm every school day.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
"Assists the bus driver by insuring passenger safety and maintaining student discipline.
"Assists students with special transportation needs such as wheelchairs, braces and crutches.
"Assists students to and from bus making sure student gets inside home if necessary.
"Operates wheelchair lift, and secures each child in seat belt or restraints, if required.
"Helps to maintain the cleanliness of the bus.
"Informs bus driver or Transportation Coordinator of any concerns regarding students.
"Attends twice yearly required in-service trainings and other required trainings and meetings.
"Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public through the
use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
