Overview:
The Maintenance Manager directs the overall maintenance of the Boilers, Turbines, Generators, Fuel Delivery, Flu Gas Desulfurization and Ash Disposal Systems for a coal fired power plant to ensure the safe, cost effective, efficient, and environmentally sound production of bulk electrical energy. This includes direct supervision of day-to-day maintenance activities and meeting all planning and scheduling requirements for the maintenance team.

Overview:
The Maintenance Manager directs the overall maintenance of the Boilers, Turbines, Generators, Fuel Delivery, Flu Gas Desulfurization and Ash Disposal Systems for a coal fired power plant to ensure the safe, cost effective, efficient, and environmentally sound production of bulk electrical energy. This includes direct supervision of day-to-day maintenance activities and meeting all planning and scheduling requirements for the maintenance team.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the Maintenance Areas through the direct supervision of Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Planners to ensure system generation requirements are achieved.
- Analyze and prioritize equipment problems and operational problems to ensure critical repairs are made to maintain plant reliability and availability.
- Analyze and project plant maintenance activities and propose to plant management the options on a daily, monthly, and annual basis to ensure acceptable equipment availability to the plant to meet the Luminant system load in an environmentally acceptable manner, under all weather conditions.
- Manage the prioritization of Plant Maintenance and Technical Support work orders through direct input to the Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Planners to ensure needed repairs are made to critical equipment.
- Interface with Operations, Environmental, Generation Support, and others to ensure an adequate reliability of equipment at the plant to meet required generation on a daily, monthly, and annual basis in a cost efficient and environmentally acceptable manner.
- Direct a multi-skilled, bargaining unit workforce through direct reports to provide the supervision, safety management, labor relations, and training and development required to ensure the safe reliable and efficient, long-term maintenance of the power plant.
- Develop and manage the portion of the Maintenance O&M Activities Budget. Also, as required, implement the adjustment of the budgets when necessary due to unplanned events in the Fossil Generation Business Unit.
- Direct the activities of contractors and vendors providing plant services, inclusive to all areas of the facility
- Team with peers, supervisors, subordinates, and representatives of other functional areas of Luminant establish, modify, and coordinate corporate business unit, and function level policies and procedures through standing committee and/or ad hoc task team assignments.
- Develop and manage the work management process (planning, scheduling and execution) of day to day maintenance activities.
- Manage the area maintenance by having accessibility to plant personnel on a 24 hour per day/7 days per week basis.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory/ management experience required
- Proficient computer skills
- Scheduling experience in P6 or a similar tool is required
- Experience in maintenance work planning is required
- Experience in a solid fuel generating plant.
- Experience in administration of a labor agreement desired
- Work environment ranging from office to in-plant. Plant environment exposures includes all weather elements as well as noise, dust, extreme heat and activities such as climbing stairs and wearing personal protective equipment including occasional use of respirators.
