Position Description
The Biller, Home Health & Hospice is responsible for the submission of all claims, collections, cash posting, and other accounts receivable functions of the agency. Ensures accurate and timely submission of billing information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements efficient billing, collections systems, and accounts receivable
- Ensures that client accounts are maintained according to accepted accounting principles and in accordance with all state, federal) JCAHO standards
- Monitors accounts receivables and resubmits bills as needed on overdue accounts
- Demonstrates knowledge of all payer contracts and follows specific requirements of the account when submitting claims
- Reconciles Medicare reimbursement reports from the intermediary with the internal billing information systems
- Collaborates with home health and hospice locations throughout the country on Accounts Receivable issues and further education on policies and procedures
- Maintains strict confidentiality of provider, company and patient information
- Experience with Home Care Home Base (HCHB) or DDE
REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- High school diploma
- One year of experience in medical billing and collections
- Previous experience with home health/hospice billing
- Demonstrates knowledge of billing regulations for Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance processing, billing terminology, and coding
- Knowledgeable of regulatory standards for home care and hospice specific to the reimbursement area
- Information system knowledge in the areas of electronic claim submission and data entry/report generation
- Demonstrate organizational skills, detail orientation, flexibility, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, verbal and written (end user support documentation, policies and procedures, etc.)
