The Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) will conduct functional analyses of behavior to understand factors that contribute to and sustain challenging behaviors, and will guide development of positive behavior repertoires. They will guide faculty and staff in development of behavior intervention plans and will construct systemic positive behavior supports across the campus – in school, as well as in the residential life program - consulting, counseling and supporting crises as needed.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments and reassessments of a student's functional, behavioral, emotional needs under the guidance of clinical staff
- Utilizes a variety of treatment approaches that are safe, creative and individualized to a particular student's needs
- Collaborates, develops and implements, including trainings of personnel, in behavior support plans (BIP, ICMP, others) to support implementation and to improve behavioral outcomes for our students.
- Works with the student in their environment, requiring flexible clinical process and scheduling requiring ‘after hours’ and week-end availability.
- Provides Crisis management and/or Classroom push in/pull out support as necessary.
- Performs any other responsibilities as needed and required
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- BS or M.S in clinical, applied behavior analysis, educational, psychology, school psychology or a related field
- At least 2-5 years’ experience in conducting functional behavioral assessments, evaluations and interventions
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities
- School experience a plus
Hours: This role supports our Campus Life, boarding programs. Sample hours might be 11-7 with one weekend shift.
