BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN
 General Definition of Work
 Performs difficult professional work acting as a resource to staff needing behavior
 assessments, interventions, training, placement or outside resource referrals, providing
 assessments and crisis intervention services, leading and attending various behavior
 and teaching team meetings, keeping related records and files, and related work as
 apparent or assigned. Continuous oversight is exercised over Behavior Support
 Technicians.

 Essential Functions
 ? Implements Behavior Intervention plans for students who have significant behaviors that
 impede their learning and the learning of others.
 ? Provide direct support to students by assisting in developing, implementing and
 monitoring behavior management plans/strategies and ensure that they are
 implemented with fidelity.
 ? Respond to students in crisis and implement proactive strategies to prevent crisis
 situations which could include physical restraint as appropriate in SL 115C-391.1.
 ? Support classroom teachers through individual student intervention
 ? Collects data daily for individual students related to their individualized behavior
 intervention plans in order to assess progress with administration, teachers, and
 behavior support specialists.
 ? Performs related work as required.
 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Can we add knowledge or experience with spreadsheets
 as they will use this at times for progress monitoring
 ? Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
 ? Ability to maintain detailed records.
 ? Ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software.
 ? Ability to learn specialized equipment and software based on district needs.
 ? Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff and
 administration.

 ? Associate’s Degree
 Physical Requirements
 ? This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 15 pounds of force.
 ? Work requires employee, at times, to physically restrain students for the safety of the
 student and others in the area.
 ? Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, walking,
 sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally
 requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms,
 pushing or pulling and lifting.
 ? Work has standard vision requirements.
 ? Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the
 spoken word.
 ? Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires
 preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing
 general surroundings and activities.
 ? Work has no exposure to environmental conditions.
 ? Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
 Special Requirements
 ? Non-violent crisis intervention training certification within six (6) months of hire provided
 by the employer. Additional training and resources will be provided as needed.
