Summary:Responsible for processing donations that arrive at the back door by preparing, organizing, cleaning, and disposing of items, as well as providing excellent customer service, and helping with the day-to-day operations of the thrift store. Requires 20+ hours each week including 10 am - 4 pm Thursday and Friday and 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday.
Vincentian Presence: To provide all services with dignity while assisting customers (which include voucher recipients and volunteers) without regard to race, color, or creed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain clean, organized work area while meeting or exceeding regular productivity, quality, and safety standards.
· Perform all work activities and assigned inspections in accordance with established safety procedures.
· Maintains exterior entrances, walkways, parking lot, drains, disposal area. Reports to the Store Manager regarding status of ice melt and equipment used to perform this duty.
· Inspect donated merchandise (shoes, purses, clothing, linens, housewares, books, toys, equipment, electronics, jewelry) as assigned for marketability, recycling, or disposal.
· Safely stock, store and label marketable merchandise on shelves or racks in the warehouse area.
· Safely relocate unmarketable stock to the recycling or disposal area as appropriate.
· Safely load, unload, stack, palletize, check, locate, pick, pack, or do other receiving-related tasks.
· Duties may be accomplished by lifting, placing, carrying, pushing, rolling, banding, packaging or operating material handling equipment
· Provide timely communication back to the Store Manager regarding any changes or issues experienced while moving merchandise and materials or while performing assigned inspections.
· Greet internal and external customers with courtesy such as “Good morning”, “Good afternoon”, “Please” and “Thank you” to establish good customer relations.
· Listen to and resolve internal customer service inquiries and complaints regarding warehousing of merchandise and materials.
· Immediately reports any accidents or injuries to management.

Education/Licensing/Certification:
· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
· 1 year receiving or similar experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Ability to work independently and under some pressure.
· Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and record findings.
· Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and fellow associates.
· Detail-oriented and able to write.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
· Knowledge or ability to learn to safely operate material handling equipment.
· Knowledge or ability to learn computer software systems.
Physical Demands:
· Ability to stand/walk for 8 to 10 hours.
· Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
· Perform repetitive motions necessary to move merchandise and materials.
· Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
· Employee will be required to observe and assess information to perform inspections.
· Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without the use of a hand truck for distances up to 25 feet. Ability to push and/or pull up to 75 lbs. For transporting any weight 25 feet or beyond requires the use of a hand truck (or the aid of some alternate material handling equipment). Employee may occasionally be required to transport and move up to 800 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
· Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, climb, use hands and arms
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and color vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
· Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
· Flexible to work varied hours and overtime as needed.
· Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees.
