General Description

The Parks Division is looking to fill multiple Winter Attendant and Special Event Attendant positions. The successful candidates for these positions will perform varied public contact services, which may include customer service work, cash handling, staffing events and programs, routine labor and custodial work, light clerical duties, set up work, etc.

Hours:
Hours may vary. 0 – 40 hours per week, depending on demand. These positions require evening and weekend availability.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

Winter Attendant - Parks Division
Greet and welcome the public. Answer and direct phone calls. Respond to requests regarding facility information, including hours of operation and policies, and skate lesson schedules. Rent equipment using rental process and forms. Sell concession items. Collect payments, handle cash and make change accurately. Count and maintain inventory using established checklist. Open and close facilities. Ensure facility maintains a clean and professional appearance. Clean the concession area, restroom and public areas. Perform related duties as assigned.

HOURS: Approximately 0-20 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may vary dependent upon outdoor conditions.

Special Event Attendant - Parks Division
This position is responsible for providing customer service, meeting and greeting customers, equipment set up and take down, and clean up of events. Attendants must maintain a safe environment. Work involves a wide range of public contacts and activities performed in collaboration with city staff and with the general public. Responsibilities may include cash handling, concession sales, and staff information booths. Work requires independent judgment and initiative and is performed under the direct supervision of the Madison Parks Recreation Services Coordinator. Duties may be performed at any of the Madison parks, facilities, or event sites. Perform other duties as assigned.

HOURS: Approximately 0-15 hours per week, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. Hours are intermittent and will vary based on the schedule of events, programs, and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

All applicants will be considered for these positions. Depending on the number of applications, random selection may be used to determine who will proceed to the interview process.
