Assistant DC Manager - Hiring Immediately~for Outbound

This position of DC Outbound Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Outbound Manager in all aspects of the Distribution Center OUTBOUND Freight. This includes the total inventory from delivery, storage and transfer out. It also includes assisting in leadership, operations management, and efficient supply chain performance. This position helps with the efforts of department managers, supervisors, and associates, per the OB Managers direction. Our leadership understands the urgency of accurate redistribution of goods from storage onto trucks for delivery and respects the fact that our customers expect high quality products in excellent condition. This leader will focus on innovative ways to achieve growth and the development of all team members. All our positions uphold our principles of value, quality, and design.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Effectively help the manager to plan, staff, direct and coordinate activities to maintain efficient storage and flow of materials while maintaining control of inventory.
  • Track:
    • Status or pending transfers.
    • All discrepancies and errors during the pick and loading process.
  • Make corrections on all discrepancies physically and systematically.
  • Track and train all employees that make pulling errors.
  • Calculate and report all outbound pieces per day/week.
  • Verify all required trailers for shipments both internal and external.
  • Proactively work with outbound auditors to catch, fix and stop errors.
  • Creates picklists for transfers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Utilize operations experience, strong leadership skills and a highly motivated character.
  • Design, implement and maintain effective internal schedules and controls to mitigate risks and provide for the movement of merchandise correctly, safely, without damage and on time.
  • Use technology to achieve financial objectives and prioritize employee development, performance metrics and accountability within the distribution center.
  • Collaborate as needed to drive optimal productivity; foster an environment in which diverse backgrounds are respected and valued.
  • Manage a safe workplace by advocating training and accident prevention/preparedness.
  • Enhance and maintain positive communications with our showroom warehouse and retail operations.
  • Communicate company standards and policies and take proactive corrective actions in collaboration with Human Resources to ensure compliance.
  • Provide ongoing training to ensure enhanced productivity and professional development of team members.
  • Perform other duties or special projects when assigned.
WHO YOU ARE
  • 2-3 years (minimum) of Distribution/Warehouse management and supply chain management.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict; ability to provide feedback and develop team.
  • Experience in large volume durable goods distribution, Furniture preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of the role of operations management in the marketing mix.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform advanced operations management, strategy and research.
  • Proven skills in implementing and leading supply chain excellence.
  • Strong understanding of technology, inventory software systems/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), applicable metrics working within a data driven environment.
  • Able to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs., unassisted.
  • Operating forklift & pallet jack and other power and/or hand tools.
  • Regular standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping.
  • Exposure to external weather, heat and cold and common warehouse conditions.
  • Exposure to Noise.
  • Exposure to moving machinery.
  • Office setting using standard office equipment, seated at computer, keyboard monitor and phone.
  • Our positions require successfully completing the pre-employment background check, drug screening and signing a nondisclosure agreement.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent GED
