What will you be doing?

As a Retail Assistant Store Manager, no two days are ever the same, but here’s what you’ll be doing in a typical day at Goodwill:

  • Working in a fun and energetic environment that makes you excited to come to work.
  • Providing service to our customers that makes them say I LOVE GOODWILL! EVERYONE NEEDS TO SHOP HERE!
  • Owning your store’s overall business to drive efficiency and grow sales
  • Leveraging your metrics (reports, financial dashboard, etc.) to understand your business and make decisions.
  • Understanding sales trends and leading your team to drive sales growth
  • Partnering with the Store Manager to leading an efficient operation while demonstrating a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Cultivating a customer-centric and engaged team.
  • Creating a welcoming experience for customers by interacting, solving concerns, and making the customers day better.
  • Supporting the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring, and retaining a passionate and customer-service focused team.

Here’s a few skills you should have to start:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, including using positive language and attentive to customer needs
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to lead, manage conflict, and hold others accountable
  • Accurately handle POS system and cash register operations
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs

  • Ability to handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting and moving merchandise up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs, with or without accommodations.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) and regular attendance necessary
