SUMMARY: The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for working with Store Manager in establishing and maintaining customer services. The Assistant Store Manager will assist in overseeing and share in the accountability for the operation of the store ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, human resource management, and managing operating costs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service.

· Help educate customers about our products and our store philosophy.

· Recruits, trains, develops and communicates with all staff as well as assesses performance on a regular basis.

· Maintains all merchandising standards, display presentations and signing standards and monitors inventory levels.

· Plans and assigns daily goals, tasks and assignments.

· Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures.

· Help control shrink, expenses and payroll.

· Ensure appropriate merchandise stock level, merchandise adjacencies and presentations; signing, and assortment in all departments; ensure sales floor is adequately stocked.

· Review department/store trends and recommend and initiate changes for maximizing goals and objectives.

· Continually evaluate and react to performance issues and actively recruit candidates. Be willing to coach and mentor sales associates. Assist Store Manager and HR with employee performance reviews.

· Be willing to manage, motivate, lead and work on sales floor.

· Develop and maintain good relations with all vendors.

· Adhere to company return policy and register procedure to ensure consistent, fast and friendly service.

· Oversee staff performance and keep staff accountable to assigned duties.

· Attend/conduct mandatory monthly store meetings.

· Complete all necessary daily sale paperwork.

· Monitor product movement; track all spoilage on company forms.

· Ensure successful completion of closing duties; delegate and follow through at all times. Make sure is “faced” properly and completely by closing.

· Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position supervises staff of the store and is responsible for the development of the employees within its department and at the direction of the store manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an the Assistant Store Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties of this job, the Assistant Store Manager is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The Assistant Store Manager must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full time position. This position regularly requires long hours, weekend and holiday hours.
