We need an in-house counsel with strong business acumen who enjoys partnering with colleagues to solve complex problems. As a member of our Legal Department, you will work on transactional matters and be a subject matter expert on employment law and litigation management. Your work will encompass all aspects of the in-house legal function, including drafting and negotiation of commercial real estate documents and vendor contracts, assisting on mergers and acquisitions, managing disputes and litigation, and advising on labor and employment matters. YOUR FOCUS (Job Duties and Responsibilities):

You will join a dynamic cross-functional team that serves as a trusted business partner to over 7,500 outstanding colleagues at Verizon's largest premium U.S. retailer. Your work will encompass all aspects of the in-house legal function, including drafting and negotiation of commercial real estate documents and vendor contracts, assisting on mergers and acquisitions, managing disputes and litigation, and advising on labor and employment matters. In this role, you will:

  • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial lease documents and vendor contracts;
  • Assist on mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence review, drafting of purchase agreements and ancillary documents, and handling post-closing items;
  • Evaluate and resolve contractual and operational disputes with landlords and vendors;
  • Track and manage litigation handled by outside counsel with an emphasis on cost containment;
  • Serve as team subject matter expert on labor and employment issues and interact extensively with the Human Resources Department on personnel matters;
  • Complete any and all other tasks that may be needed to get the job done; and
  • Collaborate like a champion.
YOUR BACKGROUND (Requirements):
You will report to the General Counsel, who will actively help develop your skill set across the spectrum of legal and business issues vital to the company, most of which should interest you. Our team members are expected to provide bad news early along with practical, evidence-based, business-minded solutions. Victra is not your typical wireless retailer, and as such we're not your typical Legal Department - our North Star is to empower Victra's business through proactive, efficient, and practical counsel. Accordingly, we are looking for an attorney with:
  • 5+ years of legal experience with an emphasis on transactional matters;
  • .D. and membership in good standing in at least one state bar;
  • In-house experience strongly preferred, and litigation management and labor and employment law experience is helpful;
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, meet deadlines, and keep your inbox at less than 25,000 items;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including a rabid devotion to the Oxford comma, an aversion to legalese, and a passion for crisp, clear, and concise communication;
  • Exceptional business acumen, analytical ability, and people skills;
  • An approach to all matters like they own the company and an above-average I.Q. (preferred) and off the charts E.Q. (required).
