Assistant EMS Director Job at FINNEY COUNTY
Summary
The Assistant Director of Emergency Medical Services is to assist the EMS Director with EMS functions in accordance with generally accepted practices and procedures. The primary role of this position will be responsible for assisting with scheduling, training, and educating all Finney County EMS technicians. This position works under the general supervision of the EMS Director.

In conjunction with EMS Director will manage, coordinate, and supervise department functions and personnel
- Training and coaching all EMS technicians
- Develop and implement educational training plan for the service based off identified educational needs, including but not limited to QA/QI.
- Initiate and facilitate changes to improve patient care and program performance including assisting in the implementation of clinical advancements and developing and managing Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement programs.
- Provide onsite leadership for safety policies including transport operations, OSHA, worker’s compensation, medical and hazardous waste disposal, and all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Facilitate crisis intervention assistance to internal and external groups as necessary.
- Develop and implement medical training program for EMS technicians
- Lead collaboration efforts for efficient multi-agency responses to emergencies.
- Develop, coordinate, and perform public education and outreach for ongoing activities and new projects
- In collaboration with the EMS Director, collect and investigate external questions, concerns, and complaints to ensure adequate resolution.
- Prepare and complete reports as required.
- Attend trainings, meetings, and classes as required for continuing education.
- Responsible for EMS inventory control.
- Assist in equipment standardization to include to developing specification, bid documents, cost comparisons, recommendations, etc.

Complete additional support functions
- Supervise department employees, delivering disciplinary action or performance evaluations, developing staffing plans, planning, and assigning work, responding to complaints/grievances, and making promotional recommendations.
- Assist EMS Director with budget preparation, controlling expenditures, and providing input on revenue sources.
- Serve in leadership capacities including the senior level Incident Command Officer during large scale emergency incidents, the Program Manager for Finney County EMS Long-term Program Provider, & Liaison to the Kansas Board of EMS for training needs.
- Assume all supervisory duties in the absence of the EMS Director
Additional duties may be assigned as business needs require.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills,
- Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or related software.
- Proficient in clerical duties, processes, and tools including filing, 10 keys, copiers, phone systems, scanners, etc.
- Proficient in the operation of emergency equipment, vehicles and moving patients.
- Proficient in critical incident management.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to complete medical treatment procedures according to standards of care.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general reference documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to work independently without supervision and uses own judgment in determining priorities and procedures used, obtaining assistance in new or unusual situations.
- Knowledge of emergency care procedures for sick or injured patients.
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures for vehicles and equipment.
Certifications, License, Registration
- Valid driver’s license
- Kansas paramedic certification
- CEVO certification

This position shall have access to electronic and paper files containing protected health information of patients that are assessed, evaluated, or cared for by Finney County EMS. A confidentiality agreement shall be signed by the employee as it relates to any information, regardless of the manner in which is communicated or maintained.

Pay: $63,679.00 per year
