Assistant Director of Nursing / Staff Development Coordinator
We are seeking to add a caring and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing/Staff Development Coordinator to be part of our team! The Nursing Staff Development Coordinator provides education, training, consultative, and support services to the management team, staff, and residents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage in the facility
- Assist the DON in determining the staffing needs of the nursing service department
- Resolve personnel problems and build into the nursing program maximum employee motivation, keeping employees informed of current changes that effect their ability in providing quality resident care
- Assess resident's condition and care needs through daily resident rounds
- Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Supervise daily care of residents
- Assist with incident/accident investigations and follow up
- Manage nursing department in absence of Director of Nursing
- Conduct Quality Assurance Studies
- Assist staff with new resident admissions
- Provide discharge teaching to residents and their families
- Provide counseling and disciplining actions to nursing employees, as needed
- Participate in facilities Quality Assurance Committee
- Communicate with other departments
- Determines the learning needs of staff in using a variety of methods to maintain or improve their competency.
- Conducts formal and informal competency assessments with staff and nursing leadership.
- Collaborates with members of the nursing leadership team to determine unit-specific educational needs.
- Develops working relationships with outside agencies and arranges for opportunities in which staff interact with representatives from these agencies.
- Rounds on the nursing units identifying opportunities to support, guide, and consult with nursing staff on practice issues.
- Participate in rotating on call schedule
Education and Qualifications:
- Previous long-term care experience is preferred
- Licensure and registration by the PA Board of Nursing Examiners as a Registered Nurse required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33.00 - $43.00 per hour
