Assisted Director of Nursing – Staff Development Coordinator
The Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a 5 Star CMS Family-owned nursing home, located in Norwood, Ma is seeking an
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSES/STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR (RN)
FULL TIME - Monday - Friday
As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will ensure the nursing department provides consistent, attentive and efficient care to patients of The Ellis.
You will work closely with the DON to improve quality of patient care and services provided by the nursing team and ensure quality customer service and compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations, as well as policies and procedures set by the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
As Staff Development Coordinator, your position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, documenting, and evaluating all educational programs, including on-the-job training for the Nursing Department. You will play a key role in the assimilation of all new employees in the facility and assures competencies are completed timely and thoroughly and that any necessary follow up is completed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists with Admissions to the Facility
Support DON carry out assigned duties.
· Keeps up to date all resident and employee vaccinations
· Provides orientation to all new hires
· Ensure consistent and smooth implementation of daily operational
procedures.
· Communicate with DON to determine daily responsibilities for ongoing projects.
· Perform all necessary daily tasks.
· Implement new policies on operational changes.
· Act as liaison with residents/families and employees to ensure satisfaction.
· Ensure documentation meets standards of regulation, and compliance
and reimbursement.
· Schedules mandated in-services on a monthly and annual basis. Secures appropriate and qualified trainers as necessary.
· Coordinates with all department heads to ensure employee participation at mandated in-services.
· Assures mandatory in-servicing is completed timely and documented in accordance with State and Federal Regulations and accreditation requirements.
· Coordinates orientation of all new employees to meet State and Federal requirements and expectations of BHCS education department.
· Communicates the assimilation status of all new employees in the facility to the administrator and appropriate department head/manager.
· Assists in identification of infection control issues and conducts both process and outcome monitoring
· Coordinates and monitors monthly departmental infection control rounds processes
· Assists in the review of infection prevention and control policies, program and procedures
Requirements and Skills
- Must be a licensed nurse in the state of Massachusetts. RN strongly preferred.
- Three (3) years' Long Term care experience preferred.
- 2-3 years of nursing management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the educational needs of all the departments in long term care.
- Knowledge of state, federal, local regulations and JCAHO accreditation requirements as they pertain to certification, licensing, and training.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing, as well as verbally.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients/residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Great knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in LTC
- Excellent ability to lead and develop personnel
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Outstanding organizational and stress management skills
- Aptitude in problem-solving
- RN Degree in Nursing with healthcare administration experience. Encourages/influences staff to take advantage of educational programs. Educates staff regarding what CEU programs are available to them.
- Understands and upholds the Residents' Bill of Rights and holds all resident information confidential. Understands employee rights in accordance with HIPAA and holds all employee information confidential.
- Valid nursing and CPR certification
