ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, HUMAN SERVICES Job at City of Miami, FL

Nature of Work

This is an executive level position responsible for assisting with directing, planning and administering the activities of the Department of Human Services. The incumbent will report to the Director and works toward addressing areas relating to economic development, pathways to prosperity, health, education, and low, moderate working families within the City of Miami, including business assistance, workforce/employment, homelessness, and potential grant opportunities.

Essential Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with developing and implementing department goals and programs to ensure the most cost effective means of service delivery that enhance the quality of life and self-sufficiency of the City of Miami’s most underserved; providing recommendations for the allocation of funds to different community partners and/or programs; participating in the development of the departmental budget; presenting and reporting on department activities; building relationships with community leaders, funders, and local philanthropic entities to better understand and address the needs of the residents and small businesses; attending meetings; participating in the promotion of programs via social media, email campaigns, radio, television, in-person appearances, or other media outlets, in order to educate and inform the public; and performing other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years progressively responsible administrative and managerial experience in economic empowerment planning and implementation related but not limited to small business assistance and workforce development/employment. Experience must include program management, budget administration, and supervisory responsibilities. Master’s degree preferred.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a bachelor’s degree.

Pay: $96,323.70 - $200,889.00 per year
