Job Description

Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA) distributes a wide range of medical and surgical devices used to diagnose and treat diseases. OCA Professional Education educates health care providers on the safe and effective on-label use of those products and related clinical topics through Olympus Continuum courses and supports the asset operations and onsite needs for independent Third-Party medical education Workshops supported by Olympus Grants.


Olympus is seeking an individual with strong leadership skills. This position is responsible for managing and leading a team of Clinical Educators and Workshops Specialists to ensure delivery of first-class education related to the safe and effective use of Olympus products. On average, 60% of the role will be dedicated to educational programs focused on the safe and effective use of Olympus products executed through Olympus Continuum and 40% will be dedicated to Grant Workshops.


Olympus Continuum courses are education and training experiences led by healthcare experts. Training opportunities include hands-on courses, online learning, lectures and workshops, peer-to-peer training, accredited continuing education, and on-demand learning as well as a vast library of educational resources. Clinical Education Team is responsible for product and clinical support throughout planning and onsite execution during Olympus Continuum courses and grant workshops.


Olympus Grants are third party medical education programs related to conditions or treatments for which Olympus products are used. Workshops Team is responsible for logistics, staffing and asset operations for Grant Workshops in line with compliance and legal guidelines.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for field and asset operations; assigning necessary people support and expertise for grant workshops, Olympus Continuum courses, and internal training to support with clinical and/or product subject matter expertise needed.


  • Develop and maintain standard protocols for efficient field operations.


  • Lead and motivate teams to achieve efficiency and deliver high quality support.


  • Coach and guide direct reports, including resolving conflicts, management of KPIs and career development.


  • Communicate and train per departmental policy and procedures and create and revise control documents as needed.


  • Support both Olympus Continuum and Grant-supported independent courses on site to ensure all discussions remain on label and teachings are consistent with learning objectives and applicable policies and procedures.


  • Maintain an environment of continuous improvement by obtaining consistent feedback from faculty, registered attendees, and internal stakeholders.


  • Maintain atmosphere of outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers, developing and maintaining effective relationships through effective and timely communication and taking initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.


  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s Degree and relevant certifications preferred or combined clinical certifications and experience required.


  • Minimum of 5 years people management experience required.


  • Must be flexible to work up to 1 weekend a month on average.


  • Must be available to travel 10-20% of work time. Most travel is within the US; however international travel may be required. The ability to travel via airplane is required. Ability to operate a vehicle is required.


  • Candidate must be comfortable working in a training environment in which human cadavers, live animals, animal tissue and other synthetic tissues are being used in a humane way to support training needs.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Medical Device or Pharma Industry highly preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing field employees preferred.


  • Experience in medical device product training and/or field clinical environment preferred.


  • Physical demands: frequently lift/carry 25 lbs., bend/stoop/kneel 2 hours a day, frequently push/pull 50+ lbs., stand/sit/walk 8 hours a day, dexterity required, vision requirements correctable to 20/20 vision, operate moving vehicles


  • Work environment: chemicals/solvents, clean room/reprocessing, eye protection, infectious disease exposure, laser, radiation


** The anticipated compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000 USD annually and the compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s qualifications.
