Based in the City of Grand Rapids, MI, ArtPrize 2.0 produces open citywide contemporary art experiences that encourage critical discourse, celebrate artists, transform urban space, and promote cultural understanding. It connects and is collaborative. It seeks to expand understanding of art. ArtPrize has a history of awarding significant publicly voted and juried art prizes and is listed among the top art competitions in the world. ArtPrize 2.0 is a community-based partnership of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University and the City of Grand Rapids. Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc. is serving as the fiduciary of ArtPrize 2.0 and will be the employer of record.

Artprize 2.0 is looking for its next Director of Development. This is an opportunity to play a key role presenting a worldwide art competition in support of the mission of ArtPrize 2.0 is to transform the art world through a radically open, global, art competition and cultural experience in Grand Rapids that starts conversation, encourages critical discourse, elevates and celebrates artists, transforms urban space and promotes cultural understanding.

The Director of Development will work with the Executive Director of ArtPrize 2.0 and has primary responsibility for raising the funding required to support ArtPrize 2.0 and to ensure that all sponsor obligations are well executed and properly reported.

This position will plan revenue strategy, and identify, solicit, and secure revenue opportunities for the organization focusing specifically on sponsorship development, public partnerships, foundation opportunities, donor relationships and recognition, city/state/federal support, and in-kind opportunities in support of the annual event program and budget.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in fundraising/development with demonstrated success in reaching funding goals, specifically in the Non-Profit Sector
• Ability to create, develop, and lead a strategic development plan
• Compelling written, oral, and visual communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, specifically with professionals and sponsors of all levels
• Entrepreneurial outlook and drive with initiative and determination to achieve revenue goals
• Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and ability to work with diverse interests and across diverse populations
• Passion and capacity to communicate comfortably and confidentially with high-level community leaders and public officials
• Ability to establish and cultivate strong relationships with peers across the community
• Provide a positive overall experience for sponsors, partners and foundations ensuring high retention rates
• Network, make new connections with prospects, and identify new opportunities for outreach
• Broad understanding of corporate missions and brand identity
• Ability to identify and respond to issues/opportunities in a timely manner with a controlled demeanor
• Ability to balance multiple competing priorities, complex situations and meet tight deadlines
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and design
• Ability to think creatively about new avenues, for funding
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel in addition to a strong working knowledge of database systems
