We are assisting our client in searching for an Aquarium Technician. Reef Tectonics is specialized in the design, installation and management of aquariums through a comprehensive service program. The company provides service to both residential and commercial clients in Lincoln, Omaha, Des Moines, IA, and Kansas City as well as their prospective areas. Our client is seeking a hard working individual who appreciates independence and autonomy with a love of learning. Must like working with marine life, fish, crustaceans etc. and has some aquarium experience.

This position may include, but not limited to:

• cleaning and maintaining client in-office/house aquariums
• traveling to client locations,
• installing and moving fish tanks
• making recommendations on new set ups or compatible tank mates
• completing needed repairs
• visiting new potential clients to inform them of company services and provide recommendations
• helping the team with various other activities
• shop work in various capacities.

Benefits and Compensation:

• This position starts at $17.00 per hour with day time hours.
• Position includes use of a company provided van, mileage reimbursement for personal use of your vehicle, and full paid drive time as applicable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cleans and maintains fish aquariums,
• performing water testing and medicating tanks
• removing deceased fish
• feeding fish
• acclimating new fish
• delivering products and aquatic animals to the customer.
• Coordinates and performs tasks involved with aquarium moves, new installations, disassembly of aquariums, equipment repair and replacement.
• Performs data entry and inventory tracking Perform other duties as assigned by management, or by others authorized by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of salt and freshwater aquatic care, aquarium cleaning and aquarium set-up.
• Excellent work ethic and attitude.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good time management skills and organizational skills.
• Must be a fish enthusiast and enjoy working with aquariums.
• Relevant experience may include working as an animal care specialist, pet store associate, pet care specialist, animal care intern, animal keeper, zoo keeper, or some other related field.
• Ability to learn and utilize proper aquarium cleaning techniques.
• Basic mechanical ability.
• Basic knowledge of aquarium cleaning.
• Ability to occasionally travel to various markets outside of the regularly-assigned geographic area.
• Ability to drive a company and/or personal vehicle

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to bend/twist the body in order to clean aquariums.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while cleaning aquariums.
• Must drive to the customers’ locations.
• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Must be able to perform job duties while wearing protective equipment as required by the company.
