Apprentice Teacher / Aftercare Paraprofessional Job at Garden Preschool Cooperative
The Garden Preschool Cooperative (GPC) is looking for a full-time Apprentice Teacher / Aftercare Paraprofessional. GPC is a parent-run nonprofit preschool that seeks to provide high-quality progressive early childhood education in a nurturing atmosphere. The ideal candidate is highly professional and dependable, demonstrates a love for children, and has excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with teachers, work to implement hands-on, multi-sensory, and project-based lessons and activities to students, which are provided in the context of academically stimulating lessons based on the thematic curriculum.
- Prepare classroom space and materials for aftercare activities.
- Enhance learning through creative uses of materials.
- Establish an environment of mutual respect and classroom management utilizing positive communication techniques.
- Encourage and assist students’ positive social interactions.
- Ensure safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Assist in the proper documentation of student accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
- Guide the scheduled Parent of the Day, as well as occasional volunteers.
- Monitor authorized parent / guardian pick up of students attending aftercare.
- Organize and secure the classroom at the end of the school day.
- Other tasks as may be required.
Qualifications Required:
- 2 years of experience working with toddlers through elementary age, preferably in a licensed early childhood school or equivalent classroom experience.
- Must be able to interact appropriately with toddlers, parents and coworkers.
- Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday to at least waist high.
- CPR Certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $3,800.00 per month

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Childcare: 2 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Required)
