Mardian Equipment seeks an Apprentice Mechanic. This position is Phoenix based. Mardian is an Equipment Dealer for Link-Belt cranes, Elliott boom trucks and aerial work platforms, Fassi knuckle booms, Shuttlelift carry deck cranes, National boom trucks, Manitex boom trucks, Magni telehandlers, Gradall Excavators and Schwing concrete pumps.

Summary

This position will assist the mechanic and learn how to diagnose, maintain and repair semi-trucks, trailers, cranes, pumps and heavy duty vehicles and equipment.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for assisting the mechanic with diagnosing, maintaining and repairing semi-trucks, trailers, pumps and cranes.
  • Assist in performing the preventive maintenance and repair on Rough Terrain (RT), Hydraulic Truck and Crawler Cranes.
  • Read schematics, blueprints and operator manuals.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Understand the standard hand signals for controlling crane operations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations that are job specific
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety

  • Play an active role in the development of the safety culture, making safety a natural part of all work performed.
  • Identify and report safety concerns.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe manner.

Reports to

This position reports directly to the Service Manager or Service Foreman.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electronics, hydraulics, diesel engines and transmissions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree or working towards a degree in Automotive Technical Training program or Diesel and Industrial Technology Training Program or equivalent.
  • Own a hand tool set up to ¾ drive.
  • Must possess strong communication skills.
  • High level of accountability, discipline, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of and with a team.
  • Must have positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (3 years)
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
