ANC Floating Supervisor Job at Peabody Essex Museum
Under the supervision of the Art & Nature Center (ANC) Manager, the ANC Floating Supervisor is responsible for helping with daily operations of the ANC plus related programming and facilitates the interpretation of both permanent and special exhibitions for visitors; oversees and mentors interns/volunteers; assists in developing and implementing multidisciplinary/intergenerational public programs (both onsite and at offsite locations) and takes responsibility for overall upkeep and maintenance of the Center. The ANC Floating Supervisor contributes ideas for weekend ANC drop-in programs, prepares examples, compiles supplies, and leads weekly activities to enhance the visitor experience. This position also assists with other PEM programs both on and off-site and during larger museum events to help build awareness and audience for the ANC (especially among family and educator audiences) and awareness of PEM overall.
Demonstrated interest in and capacity for working with family audiences and informal arts education. A B.A./B.S. in environmental/arts education or related field preferred. Prior museum or gallery experience and/or arts education study/experience is a plus. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, as well as computer and organizational skills are essential. This position requires good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and to stand for long periods of time, with minimal direction. This position is approximately 19 hours per week and requires flexible availability, including some weekend hours, Monday holidays, and weekday hours. Conversational fluency in a language other than English a plus.
