JOB SUMMARY
The main objective of the Ambassador role is to deliver meals, assist in menu selection and cater to patients need in a timely fashion, In addition, the Ambassador acts as the representative of the food and nutrition services department. Reports to Dietary Director. Non-exempt position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares all cold/hot items and condiments for meal times according to quantities as written on the “Daily Production List.”
Focuses on presentation of patient trays including meals accuracy, meal temperature and to ensure timely tray delivery.
Responsible for patient satisfaction during the shift for the assigned floors.
Deliver and collect patient menus in a timely manner.
Maintains food at proper temperatures.
Responsible for the meal accuracy and diet appropriateness while delivering patient trays.
Ensure all patients needs are catered during shift in between meal times.
Inputs data on each patient admission and diet order into Meditech.
Updates Diet and computer information prior to each meal service
Possess thorough understanding of information from the therapeutic diet manual for use in completion of daily tasks.
Prepares patient tray cards accurately for each meal service.
Adjust menu options as directed by the dietitian or technician for patient food preferences.
Monitors patient tray preparation and audits for accuracy for Performance Improvement purposes
Maintains accurate record of number of meals served daily.
Assists in collecting food preference information from patients and enters requests into Meditech.
Reports malfunctioning equipment or those requiring routine service to the department director by submitting a work order
Answers telephone and delivers phone messages to appropriate personnel
Processes request for Food Service and Patient trays to ensure accurate and timely completion.
Maintains Diet Office files and records in an appropriate, organized manner and to assure compliance with regulatory agencies.
Assist in cafeteria service or register operations when staffing levels dictate.
Have ability to calculate measurements in recipes to increase or decrease servings.
Stock and maintain par level in each unit.
Stock and maintain food inventory in doctor’s lounge.
Responsible for keeping coffee machine clean in doctor’s lounge and registration area
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Previous experience in health care or institutional food preparation preferred.
Food Handlers’ Certification required within 30 days.
Required Skills
Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English.
Additional languages preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
Must possess ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
Basic computer knowledge.

Functional Job Requirements:
Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.

Job requires heavy lifting on an occasional basis.
