Agronomy Assistant with Class A CDL Job at Town and Country Supply Association
SUMMARY
Manage a full service Agronomy operation, including dry and liquid fertilizer, seed, seed treatment, crop protection products and custom application.
Other functions may include maintenance of equipment, plant, operation of forklifts, loaders, operating tender trucks, filling fertilizer tanks and bins, loading customers' vehicles with product, unloading of deliveries and other duties as required.
Performs all job functions in a timely and accurate manner to increase customer satisfaction and maintain the reputation and profitability of the organization.
Job Classification: Full time with benefits including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as 401K and overtime.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
- Ensure efficient operations of the agronomy plant and provide outstanding customer service.
- Establish and maintain a sense of pride and ownership together with a culture of accountability and responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
- Help oversee operational functions of the agronomy plant including blending, loading, delivery of product and general labor.
- Attend daily meetings.
- Help supervise location employees including training, coaching and performance appraisals.
- Cooperate and coordinate with the Location Manager, Patrons, CDL drivers and custom applicators.
- Maintain facility and equipment, keeping it clean and in safe working condition.
- Provide outstanding customer service and support increase sales to customers.
- Observe and enforced all organization policies and safety requirements.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Location Manager and Sales Agronomists to monitor competitive products and marketing activities.
- Help monitor the work of all employees to correct deficient performance and effectively reward and develop all employees.
- Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image and culture in all aspects of the operations and appearance of the facility.
- Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership and accountability in his/her work.
- Keep the Location Manager informed of operational, customer, vendors or employee issues that may arise.
- Help and Train Seasonal Employees.
- Work with the Location Manager and Sales Agronomists to establish strategic marketing plans in order to achieve company objectives for the Agronomy Division.
- Ensure accuracy of inventory and availability of product on hand for sale.
OTHER
- Must be competent in handling equipment safely.
- Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; as a safety sensitive employee subject to random and other required substance abuse screening as per Town and Country policy.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 80 pounds.
- Good attendance required.
- Be able to work 40-50 hours a week and longer during peak seasons.
- Working conditions may include dust and hazardous material.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must use tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers and personnel.
- Must be dependable.
- Agricultural background.
- High School graduate
- Knowledge of agriculture and cooperatives
- People and supervisory skills
- Ability to obtain custom applicator license with seed treating endorsement
- Class A CDL
- Acceptable driving record
