To help us achieve our goals of being the “best in class”, we are looking for talented candidates like you to join our Workforce Services team. As an Agriculture and Foreign Labor Specialist, you will deliver a full range of services to the public with special emphasis on Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers. This emphasis will include such responsibilities as conducting outreach to meet with MSFWs who may not be being reached by the normal intake activities conducted by local office staff in order to provide job service information, registration, referrals to supportive services, and information on the job service complaint system.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of agricultural trends and business practices, related employment laws and regulations, child labor laws, and farm labor contractor registration requirements.

Knowledge of pesticide safety, field sanitation, the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Employment Training Association regulations, and housing standards.

Oral and written communication, organizational, customer service, and computer skills.

Ability to work both independently and as a team member, to interpret and apply related policies and procedures, laws, and regulations, and to work effectively with diverse groups

Ability to conduct interviews and housing inspections, to present information to groups of people, to collect and analyze data’ prepare reports, and to provide technical assistance and respond to inquiries as needed.

As this position will service the areas of Brunswick, Greensville, Mecklenburg, Lunenburg, Prince Edward, Nottoway, Amelia, Powhatan, Cumberland, and Appomattox, a valid Virginia driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. (mileage reimbursement allowed)

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with agricultural and Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker programs.

Spanish fluency (both oral and written).

Special Requirements
The selected candidate must successfully pass a background investigation.
