As an Advocacy Manager, you will provide leadership to LSS employees, external stakeholders, volunteers, individuals who access LSS services and community partners to build the public will in support of LSS’ vision and achieve LSS public policy priorities. You will be responsible for representing LSS at the state legislature, in the community, and among coalition partners. In this role, you will design systems and implement plans to connect LSS staff experts and supporters with elected officials, leading nonpartisan voter engagement efforts, develop and lead advocacy training, and supervise a robust advocacy internship program. You will use intercultural competent skills to advance racial equity in Minnesota.
Annual Salary Range of 59,082-65,647
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree in public affairs, public policy, social work, or applicable work experience is preferred.
- 3-5 years’ work experience including legislative, organizing or policy experience required
- Positive attitude, enthusiastic, flexible and a self-starter
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, comfortable using web-based technologies, including e-advocacy techniques, website applications, and social media applications
- Experience in training development and delivery
- Adept at public speaking
- Strong interpersonal relation skills; able to work with diverse groups; able and eager to work within a team
- Understanding of advancement-wide functions: marketing, communications, and development.
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities
- Adept problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Ability to travel and work during some evenings and weekends required
- Ability to work in a complex, faith-based, non-profit environment with a wide variety of stakeholders and to effectively coordinate work with other staff and volunteers.
