Job Summary:

  • The Adoption Trainer & Family Assessor will be responsible for utilizing inquiry technology to onboard interested families in foster care adoption. The assessor will be responsible for preparing families for adoption with the curriculum-based PRIDE (Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education) classes. This position is also responsible for completing in depth home studies for potential adoptive families, including home visits, thorough interviews, and background checks.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience

Three years professional experience in child welfare with at least two years in a dependency related position and formal experience in trainer/teacher related activities (developing curriculum, presentation construction, training facilitation, etc.)

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration

Current Child Welfare certification and knowledge of Florida's Child Welfare system. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Comprehensive Adoption Training and PRIDE Train the Trainer preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Clear a Level II background screening.
  • Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
  • Clear a substance abuse screen.
  • Clear a Motor Vehicle Records check and must be insurable under company’s auto insurance
  • Maintain and provide proof of auto insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000.
  • Provide a copy of all degrees prior to your first day of employment.
  • Clear an E-Verify check to substantiate that the successful candidate meets the Department of Homeland Security authorization requirements to work in the United States (for more information visit www.dhs.gov/e-verify).

Job Duties

Essential Duties

Provide orientation and direct training as required based on the modules developed for P.R.I.D.E. The ability to engage the participants through icebreakers, openers, energizers, and creative methods that facilitate learning.

Coordinate fingerprinting and criminal, FAHIS background checks on potential adoptive families in accordance with the requirements and timeframes outlined in F.A.C. 65C-16.

Utilize Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) to document and create person provider inquiries and home studies.

Monitor class attendance and submission of required documentation and family profiles.

5%

Complete and submit adoption home studies to supervisor within 90 days of PRIDE graduation.

20%

Duties include interviewing potential adoptive parents, determine if they are eligible, evaluate their financial situation, and verify their background information.

Must engage prospective adoptive families in the adoption process

by assisting them as they navigate their way through inquiry and submission technology to register them in the adoptive classes.

Must track and respond to assignments in Binti to track progress of necessary documents needed by the families.

Utilize FSFN and Family Match to submit approvals for qualified home studies

Create and deliver class schedules on an annual basis

This position does not require the customary supervision and management of two or more employees.
Two examples of the most common decisions made independently by this position on a regular basis without following prescribed procedures are as follows:

  • Determining whether a family meets eligibility requirements to obtain a public adoption home study.
  • Identifies individuals with adoption experience to participate in the PRIDE panel.

Contribution and Impact

This position is responsible for achieving the defined outcome measures in PRIDE curriculum and assuring all policies and procedures are followed for assessing adoptive families home studies.
