ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY


SUMMARY: This position could be just the place to expand your career! Under general supervision of the Associate Director - Retail Dining with a dotted line to the Manager, Enterprise Accounting, the Accounts Specialist is responsible for a variety of clerical duties. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below and will vary based upon a variety of factors including business necessity, location, and customer requests. Will be required to work evenings and weekends.


ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.


The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.


SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Provides clerical support in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and credit cards.
  • Processes sales/revenue data and generates reports from a variety of systems, including reviewing aging reports, following up on customer collections and reconciling to tender received.
  • Communicates with store managers on all IDT transactions, variances detected and resolves issues.
  • Prepares a weekly sales/labor report for management.
  • Prepares daily cash drops for deposit with Foundation cashier.
  • Responsible for change fund and petty cash management and reconciliation.
  • Verifies register counts with cashiers during shift changes.
  • Coordinates with the Bronco Bucks office to resolve system issues.
  • Prepares monthly expense accruals for utilities and rent.
  • Informs managers/supervisors of any changes in cash handling/cashiering procedures.
  • Reconciles monthly Bronco Bucks sales from on campus sources and coordinates the payments.
  • Orders and receives supplies for the area assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accounting experience
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures to variety of situations.
  • Ability to be resourceful and to take initiative.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-ethnic environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules; open to new ideas and adaptable to changing technology.
  • Strong writing skills.

WE OFFER:

  • This a 20 hour per week, non-benefitted, non-exempt position
  • Starting pay commensurate with qualifications. Hourly range $18.29 - $22.00
