Position Title: Accounts Payable Specialist
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Primary Purpose: Responsible for all A/P functions for American Electric.
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate for this role should have at least 3 years of experience in accounting. Competence in financial and bookkeeping software is necessary. In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations is a must. An understanding of current accounting trends is a plus. Expert-Level knowledge of spreadsheets is crucial, and experience with word-processing tools is essential for generating and writing reports for record-keeping and presentations.
Essential Duties:
- Receive and enter properly coded invoices into the accounting system
- Ensure payments are processed timely
- Reconcile company’s credit card statements
- Respond to vendor inquiries
- Electronically file appropriate documents
- Process checks with appropriate backup documentation
- Produce/Review aging reports and identify payments to be made on a weekly basis
- Track all vehicle ownership information
- Complete credit applications
- Manage postage machine
- Provide documentation to assist in resolving payable issues.
- Proactively contact vendors to preserve and enhance vendor relationships
- Active with process improvements
- Monitor outstanding checks
- Assist Contract Administrator when necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.18 - $22.00 per hour
