JOB TITLE: Accounts Payable/ Bookkeeper

Job Description
The Accounts Payable/Bookkeeper position is responsible for accounting functions that assist with financial management of Tallatoona Community Action Partnership, Inc. according to specialized financial rules that pertain to nonprofit organizations exclusively. The Accounts Payable/Bookkeeper position works with donors, vendors, agency staff, management and board members. Their responsibilities include monthly reconciliations like accounts payable and receivable, bank and investment accounts and expense accounts. They also oversee incoming donations, asset management and depreciation, grant management and reporting tasks. This position is a dual role that provides, Accounts Payable with some Bookkeeper duties and also is a back-up for payroll and the program accountant.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Codes such items as invoices, vouchers, expense reports, check requests, etc., with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system.
- Handles all vendor correspondence via phone or email
- Prepares non-inventory purchase order requisitions.
- Attaches the corresponding purchase orders to incoming invoices with all supporting documentation.
- Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders.
- Prepares batch check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions.
- Assists with monthly status reports, and monthly closings.
- Reconciles various accounts by identifying errors in posting or omissions by applying appropriate accounting standards.
- Reconciles payroll and corporate bank accounts.
- Process remittance information from checks, drafts and wire transfers for invoices provided by vendors, reviewing instructions accompanying items to determine proper disposition and crediting accounts in accordance with standard procedures.
- Receives, researches and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.
- Production of end of year 1099s.
- Insurance reconciliation/bill process Journal entries
- Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records and reports.
- Performs other duties as required to support Accounting Department
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 4 years accounts payable or general accounting experience
- Applied knowledge of OMB Circulars and Uniform Guidance
- 10-key by touch
- Sage, ABILLA or other equivalent system experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong organizational skills; must be detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- Open to change and willing to learn new skills
- Ability to follow-up on pending issues and to meet deadlines
- Must have the ability to work with individuals from different ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds.
- Possess access to a working vehicle, have a valid driver’s license, clean MVR and maintain adequate liability insurance.

Education and Experience
- Associates Degree in Accounting or related field
- Must have experience with computerized accounting systems and other programs to include (but not limited to) Word and Excel spreadsheets.
- 3 years’ experience working within a multi-funded organization.
