JOB TITLE:
Accounting Department Manager

EMPLOYER: Nackard Bottling Company

DEPARTMENT: Finance / Accounting Team

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

SUMMARY: Manages and coordinates activities and operations of the Finance / Accounting department and staff.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors systems for general accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger. Manages cash controls and cash escrow processes and accountability.
  • Prepares and analyzes financial and operational reports; prepares reports for senior management and other internal and external parties.
  • Manages monthly accounting close cycle; and prepares month-end financial statements.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate books and records. Reviews and analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
  • Reviews intercompany billings and allocations, prepares and posts journal entries, oversees bank reconciliations and maintains supporting documentation in an organized manner.
  • Coordinates and leads the year-end review of financial statements and supporting documents with external CPA firm.
  • Prepares monthly sales tax returns
  • Coordinates and ensures timely and complete response for compliance audits
  • Reviews and analyzes the organization's accounting operation; establishes, develops, and/or recommends economic objectives and policies to management.
  • Works with the outsourced IT support companies to coordinate IT needs for the department.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops accounts receivable and accounts payable staff; manages schedules, workflow and performance.
  • Oversees accounts receivable/collections and accounts payable functions.
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises 5-10 employees within the finance / accounting department.
  • Indirectly supervises various employees within various department(s).
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in accounting or equivalent.
  • Three to four years related experience or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Proficient with MS Office including excel spreadsheets.
  • Acute attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
